All aboard the 2018 Silver State Scavenger Hunt! The hunt is back, and the pressure’s on to get out and explore Nevada while winning some awesome adventure prizes. We’re incorporating the Nevada railroads theme into this year’s hunt, taking adventurers to some of the state’s most iconic, exciting, and important train destinations. Think you have what it takes to win the grand prize?
Once again, we’ve split the state into two zones—Northern and Southern—and chose 14 notable railroad destinations in each. Simply pick a zone, visit 10 of the 14 locations in that zone, snap a photo of yourself holding the JULY/AUGUST 2018 issue of Nevada Magazine at each location, and email all 10 photos to us at [email protected].
We’re teaming up with Land Rover again, who will be providing this year’s prizes. Additional prizes are provided by Nevada Northern Railway in Ely.
LAND ROVER PRIZE PACKAGE (One winner from each zone)
This grand prize includes an off-road experience in a Land Rover. The prize gives the winner a chance to explore some of the state’s coolest locations while riding in a Land Rover. Nevada Northern Railway Prize Package (One winner from each zone)
The Be the Engineer prize package allows the winner to climb aboard a historic steam engine to learn the basics. Then it’s your turn! Climb up into the engineer’s seat and receive personal instructions from your mentor engineer on controlling the throttle and brake. Once the basics are under your belt, the moment comes for you to sound the whistle, have your hand on the throttle, and head up the mainline toward the mines.
