Having attended my first National Cowboy Poetry Gathering this year, I discovered first-hand just how amazing and unique this event is and why it’s been happening for 31 years.  From the incredible variety of poets and musicians, the dances which left me breathless, and the exhibits and education, this event is as rare as the true buckaroo. The town of Elko throws its doors wide open to the world for this event, and the world responds with a hearty “Yee Haw!”

Apparently, this was also discovered by a writer for the Wall Street Journal who was in attendance. You can read her story here: Cowboy Culture, Alive and Well.

The 2016 National Cowboy Poetry Gathering will be held Jan. 25-30. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this. — Megg
