There’s proof of Southern Nevada’s natural beauty in Sharon K. Schafer’s paintings, photographs, and sketches. Works by the Boulder City artist and naturalist are on display through June 1 at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Las Vegas. The “Art of Nature” exhibit moves to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City on September 1 and will be on display until August 30, 2009.
“The Art of Nature: Images from the Wildlands of Southern Nevada” captures timeless views of desert creatures and their environment, which Schafer calls a land of great contradictions and contrasts. “It is at once austere, enchanting, and secretive,” she says. “A glimpse of the hidden beauty and grace of nature can change a viewer.”
